According to an official statement from the makers, Sanya Malhotra has finished filming the Hindi version of the popular Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen. The movie is directed by Arati Kadav of the Cargo fame and is produced by actor-turned-producer Harman Baweja.
Sanya expressed her delight at receiving the role when the movie's makers first made its formal announcement earlier this year, adding, “As an actor, I could not have asked for a better character than I would essay in The Great Indian Kitchen. I am more than excited to start working on my role because there are so many layers and nuances to it. I am looking forward to working with Harman and Arati.” Moreover, according to the most recent report, Sanya has travelled to Kolkata to finish filming Sam Bahadur after wrapping up the shooting for The Great Indian Kitchen's Hindi adaptation.
Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu played the main characters in the original Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen, which was released last year and was directed by Jeo Baby. The plot of the film revolved around the exploitation of a married woman in the name of tradition and how she gets out of the destructive relationship. Sanya will portray the role that was originally played by Nimisha.
