Shah Rukh Khan backs a small film

Of late, the big Indian production houses are backing small independent films to get a theatrical release and reach a wider range of audiences. Down in Telugu, we have Suresh Productions, which has promoted at least a dozen small films in the last three years. Now, Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan is following the same path in the Hindi film industry.

Shah Rukh Khan owned Red Chillies Entertainment bought the rights of a small budget film called Kaamyaab. Directed by National Award-winning director Hardik Mehta, this film features Sanjai Mishra and Deepak Dobriyal in the lead roles. It will release on March 6th this year.

"@RedChilliesEnt is proud to present an endearing and inspiring story, Har Kisse Ke Hisse... #Kaamyaab, a @DrishyamFilms production, starring @imsanjaimishra& #DeepakDobriyal. Directed by National Award Winner #HardikMehta, the film releases in cinemas on 6 March 2020. @iamsrk" tweeted Red Chillies Entertainment.

Shah Rukh tweeted back by replying, "Extremely poignant story of a character artist...his struggles with himself, films and life....bitterly sweet and very well enacted. Hope all enjoy this small film with a biggish heart."

Kaamyaab had its world premiere last year at the Busan International Film Festival. It won several accolades over there and also toured many other film festivals. Now, with the help of Shah Rukh, it is reaching a wider section of viewers across the country.
