Only a few days remain till the debut of Shah Rukh Khan's film Pathaan, and the actor has lauded Deepika Padukone and the much-discussed song, Besharam Rang. He asserts that only a performer like Deepika can pull off a song like Besharam Rang.
Siddharth Anand is the director of Pathaan. After the debut of the first song, Besharam Rang, the movie has been receiving media attention. Some individuals found it offensive and criticised the selection of outfits and colours. Deepika's saffron bathing suit received much flak. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika were seen in the song kissing on a beach in Spain.
Shah Rukh Khan was asked to discuss his opinions on Deepika Padukone's portrayal from the movie Pathaan in a new video released by Yash Raj Films. He said, "You need someone of the stature of Deepika to be able to pull off a song sequence like Besharam Rang. And then you know, to be able to do action, where she takes a guy and pulls him right over herself and beats him. She's tough enough to do that too. That kind of a combination could have only been achieved with someone like Deepika. It's quite a layered character for an action film heroine so to say.”
“I came to the film industry 32 years ago to be an action hero. But I missed the boat because they made me a romantic hero instead. I've only wanted to be an action hero. I mean I love DDLJ, Rahul and Raj, and all these good sweet boys. But I always thought I was an action hero. So for me, it is my dream come true,” he further added about playing a solider in Pathaan.
John Abraham, who plays the antagonist, is also a part of Pathaan. Pathaan embarks on a mission to stop him as he heads a terrorist group against India and Shah Rukh. Shah Rukh and Deepika, another soldier, hold hands. The movie will debut on January 25. Shah Rukh won't have acted in a feature-length movie in more than four years. Shah Rukh last appeared in Brahmastra in an extended cameo.
