After too many delays, Silambarasan aka Simbu's long due project Maanaadu finally went on floors this morning. The shoot of this film started rolling with a formal pooja ceremony held in Chennai earlier today. The film's main cast and crew were present at the ceremony.

Maanaadu is a political thriller which is being directed by Venkat Prabhu. It features Simbu in the role of a politician named Abdul Khaaliq. Kalyani Priyadarshan is playing the female lead in this movie. This is her second Tamil film after 2019 release Hero. Maanaadu also features Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Pope, Y. Gee Mahendra and Sj Suryah in the other important roles. It is being bankrolled by V House Productions.

Simbu, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Venkat Prabhu, Suresh Kamatchi, Bharathiraja, Kalaipuli S Thanu and other important cast and crew members have graced the pooja ceremony today. The regular shoot will commence from today itself.

This is Venkat Prabhu's comeback film after four years. His last film was Chennai 600028 II, which got released in 2016. He made a film called Party in the meantime but it didn't get released due to some unknown reasons. Maanaadu is Simbu's immediate film after last year's Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven. Maanadu will hit the screens in this year itself.
