Famous American pop star Shawn Mendes has donated a whopping $ 175000 US dollars to the SickKids Foundation. The donation is aiming to fund pediatric help to these kids amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Shawn Mendes Foundation made the contribution earlier this week. The money donated by the singer will help the Foundation buy important healthcare equipment. These types of equipment will be used for and amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The SickKids Foundation will help The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Orlando.
Mendes commented on the contribution saying, "Through The Shawn Mendes Foundation, we have been working to find ways to best support the COVID-19 crisis." He added saying, "By making this donation to SickKids, we hope to help provide support in the urgent screening and prevention of COVID-19 for their patients and the surrounding community of Toronto. For the next month, we will be directing all donations to The Shawn Mendes Foundation to go towards additional efforts by SickKids, as well as efforts being made internationally by the World Health Organization COVID-19 Response Fund."
Earlier Mendes hosted a Livestream with fellow singer Camila Cabello. Mendes urged his fans to take care of their health. He concluded the video saying, "We love you so much and we care about everyone."
"Again, I just want to say be patient with yourself. It's just craziness, and give yourself the patience and love you deserve right now," he added.
Other famous celebrities like Ryan Reynolds have also donated to various charities across Canada and America. Coronavirus has already infected millions across the globe and killed at least a few thousand.
