Recently, the Besharam Rang song courted controversy. Many politicians pointed out that Deepika Padukone is wearing skimpy clothes. Madhya Pradesh's BJP MLA Narayan Tripathi took offense to Deepika's orange swimsuit. He wrote a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur calling for a ban on the film. He wrote, "The saffron color was shown in a bad light in the movie, and in apparent deceitfulness, the filmmakers have tried to mock our deities. It’s a humble request to bring this to the notice of the Central Board of Film Certification and direct it to remove offensive songs and scenes or halt the movie's release across the country. "Reacting to it, Somy Ali declared her support to Pathaan and Deepika Padukone.

Taking to Instagram, Somy Ali wrote, "Get yourself a freaking life. Focus on children being sold into sex trafficking in India on a daily basis. Women are victims of acid attacks and domestic violence. Little boys and girls are victims of sexual and physical abuse. People literally lose their lives due to starvation. The high-ranking statistics of women being raped every single day. Check your priorities rather than picking on artists who have creative licenses to do what they want as long as it does not harm anyone. And aside from encouraging people to workout harder, there is nothing wrong with this song or movie. Get your priorities in check and start with getting an education."
