Srilankan Black & White movie wins appreciation at IFFI 2019

Gamperaliya is a Srilankan movie that released long back and International Film Festival brought the movie forward for a special screening during the 50th edition and the film impressed the movie lovers' big time.

The Srilankan movie released in the Sinhala language during the '60s in black & white. The film got screened in the Golden peacock Retrospective category. The movie starts hitting right on point. The unemployment problem and the rich-poor differences were well portrayed. The girl's point of view/love angle was not expressed in dialogues, but it was cleverly depicted in the scenes( girl falling I'll thinking of him). The movie looked a bit ahead of times(traditions & Customs followed then) in many scenes. The second half looked a bit dragged. The first half is good. The editing was fine. The direction is good. Overall, the film is a decent retro film worth watching.

Gamperaliya is a 1963 Sri Lankan drama film directed by Dr. Lester James Peries' screenplay, dialog, and the script by Dr. Tissa Abeysekara. The film is an adaption from the novel Gamperaliya by Martin Wickramasinghe
