Stranger Things has become one of Netflix's most popular shows. Once Season 5 concludes, the creators Matt and Ross Duffer have huge plans for the franchise. It has been reported that a spin-off program and a stage play are now under production, so fans won't have to say goodbye to Upside Down.
Five projects on which the Duffer brothers will collaborate have been publicized as part of their agreement with the streaming giant. It includes a new stage play, centered in the Stranger Things universe. This will be a television series based on Stephen King and Peter Straub's book The Talisman, and a live-action version of the anime series Death Note. The upcoming productions will be made under the recently established Upside Down Pictures banner.
Regarding the next Stranger Things projects, the live-action spinoff will be produced by Upside Down alongside Shawn Levy's 21 Laps and is based on an original concept by the Duffer Brothers. The universe and mythology of the show will be reflected in the setting of the stage play.
Fans had previously picked up on the connections to Stephen King's The Talisman in the Season 4 finale, when Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) could be seen reading a passage to his girlfriend Max (Sadie Sink) in one of the closing scenes. It appears that the series' fans can celebrate since they will have enough to look forward to once Season 5 of the show ends.
