Sunny Deol To Take Up The Leading Role In The Remake Of Malayalam Movie

Sunny Deol is on a roll, taking on author-backed parts. He recently concluded filming for R Balki's psychological thriller Chup, and now we learn that he will star in the Hindi version of Joseph, a 2018 Malayalam murder thriller. M Padmakumar who also directed the original will direct the film and the project is to be produced by Kamal Mukut.

"Sunny Deol is hoping to change gears by signing up for some high-quality content-driven projects, with a preference for thrillers." When Kamal Mukut approached him about starring in the Joseph remake, he saw the film and was blown away. "He only had one request: keep the film as gritty and authentic as the Malayalam original," said a person close to the project, adding that the paperwork has been completed and the picture is currently in pre-production. Joju George, Dileesh Pothan, Athmiya Rajan, and Malavika Menon played pivotal roles in the original film. Sunny will take over Joju's role from the original film.

The Joseph remake is rumored to be going into production ahead of Gadar 2. This is due to the latter's producers had yet to lock the complete screenplay and other pre-production aspects.

Joseph is an investigative thriller about the lives of four retired police officers. It also received a special mention in the National Awards and was recognized at all of Kerala's local award ceremonies.
