Ever since the announcement got made regarding the movie between hero Suriya and director Selvaraghavan, there were a lot of expectations on it. Finally, after a few delays, the film NGK had hot the screens on May 31st last year. It received massive opening at the box office as it is the first film in the combination of Suriya and Selvaraghavan. It remained as a critically acclaimed venture. On the first release anniversary of this film, let us look back into it.

 
NGK revolves around the story of Nanda Gopala Kumaran, who is a social worker. He had to step into politics due to a few circumstances. How an ideal minded man like NGK managed to live amidst the ugly and corrupt political system forms the main crux of the story. Suriya's performance is the major highlight of the film. He carried the entire proceedings single-handedly from beginning to the end. NGK featured Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh as the female leads. Rakul's performance got several accolades from the critics and audiences as well. NGK got produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Prabhu. Yuvan Shankar Raja scored the music for it. His background score was one of the major assets for this political thriller. It also got dubbed into Telugu with the same name.
 
All Suriya fans are celebrating the occasion by trending the hashtag #1YearofCultNGK. On the other side, Suriya is currently awaiting the release of his next film Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara.
