Filmfare Awards 2020 held in Guwahati, Assam. Apart from doing rounds for its popularity, the awards also received flak for biased. For those who are unaware, Filmfare Awards presented 13 awards to Gully Boy. This irked the audience and they started calling the awards paid and biased. Apart from Gully Boy, Saand Ki Aankh, Kabir Singh were the big winners of the night. Taapsee Pannu won the award for the best actress critics choice for her film Saand Ki Aankh.

On winning the award, Taapsee has this to say, "It took time, but I finally got it. What do I say? I have been preparing my speech since 2016 but never got the chance to say it. I had not prepared a speech this time around and I wasn't prepared." About the Filmfare controversy, Taapsee says, "Thank god, for a change the controversy isn't about something I have done or said." Among others who won the awards were Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, and others.

Talking about her upcoming film, Taapsee will feature in Thappad. The film talks about domestic violence and how a woman decides to overcome abuse and torture. The film will release on the 28th of February.
