The popular fashion icon Sonam Kapoor talked about women empowerment and more in her shoot with Baazar Magazine. She mentioned her choices in films and being a role model. She uploaded photos from her shoot and attached excerpts from her interview. In one photo she is wearing Bazza Alzouman dusty-rose colored tulle ball gown. she says, "You can’t just be the poor little rich girl or feel sorry for yourself - no. I have to make those harder choices and pave the way for other women after me. My whole team are women - and we need to lift each other up. There are thousands of years of patriarchy to cut through.”
The Zoya Factor actress also wrote "Whatever work I do as an artist has to be a reflection of my moral compass, and what I believe in speaking out about. So yeah... I do ‘strong female leads'". This may or may not be true given her mixed choice of characters. She captioned this under a photo where she is wearing a Maison Valentino dress. It is bright pink, ruffled gown with heavy jewelry.
Three sets of photos show her in a gorgeous red colored WADHA gown with a necklace by Bvlgari. She quotes Elizabeth Taylor. Another photo shows her in a delicate Giambattista Valli couture gown. She added below this photo, For me, female empowerment is very important, especially because I’m from a side of the world where women have always been second-class citizens".
The actress is gearing up for her next role in Blind directed by Sujoy Ghosh after hee role in The Zoya Factor. Kapoor's photo and interview invite mixed reviews. Does only appearing on the cover of Baazar spell women empowerment? One will never know.
