TVF's new show Panchayat is a joyful rural drama which makes an engaging watch

The Viral Fever aka TVF has been a pioneer in Indian web space for a long time. They were the makers of some of the brilliant works like Pitchers, Kota Factory and Permanent Roommates. Now, TVF is back with their new series, Panchayat. This new show is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It is a joyful rural drama which has its own flaws but makes an engaging watch.

Panchayat stars Jithendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav in the lead roles. The story revolves around the character of Abhishek (played by Jithendra Kumar). He works as a newly appointed village secretary in Phulera village of Uttar Pradesh. The sarpanch of the village is Manju Devi (ever-charming Neena Gupta). But it is her husband, Brij Busan (highly talented Raghubir Yadav) who runs the administration. One fine day, Abhishek's office gets locked and the key is missing. He can't break the lock as it belongs to Manju Devi. Even the locksmith goes missing at that time. The series of events followed after that incident forms the main plot of the story. The initial episodes of the series show a lot of promise. Slowly, it dizzies down a bit in the later episodes. Nevertheless, it is an engaging watch in spite of its flaws.

Jithendra Kumar and Raghubir Yadav run the show with ease. They prove yet again their prowess and show that there are one of the best in the business. Neena Gupta got limited to a less screen presence. It would have been great if we had more scenes of her character. On the whole, Panchayat makes a good watch during this lockdown.
