Varun Dhawan is the younger son of popular director David Dhawan. Before making his debut as an actor, Varun worked as an assistant director for the film My Name is Khan. He made his acting debut with the 2012 romantic comedy Student of the Year. The film also marked the debut of Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra. Student of the Year was a big success at the box office and made all three lead actors stars overnight. Varun's second film was 2014 release Main Tera Hero. Even this film was a success at the box office. Over these eight years, Varun scored many hits like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badlapur, Dishoom, Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya, Judwaa 2, and Sui Dhaaga. Varun was especially lauded for his performances in films like Badlapur, October, and Sui Dhaaga.
Varun was last seen in the movie Street Dancer 3D. This turned out to be a flop at the box office. Varun's next release will be Coolie No:1. Directed by David Dhawan, this film features Sara Ali Khan as the lead actress.
