One of the best films in actor Venkatesh's career is Ganesh. It is also one of the biggest blockbusters in the late 1990s. This action drama marked the directorial debut of Thirupathisamy. It was a huge success at the box office. Today, Ganesh celebrates 22 years of its release. On this occasion, here is a look back into it.
 
Ganesh had hit the screens on June 19th, 1998. It featured Madhu Bala and Rambha as the female leads. Chandra Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Keerthana played the other important roles in it. The story of the film revolves around a journalist who loses his father and sister's lives due to the negligence of the medical departments. Then, he vows to take revenge on the Health Minister, to avoid such incidents in the future. Venkatesh appeared in two different shades in the film. He perfectly balanced the acts of a fun-loving guy and a brokenhearted person seeking vengeance. Upon its release, Ganesh got unanimous positive reviews from the audiences. People thronged into theaters and made the film a blockbuster eventually.
 
Mani Sharma has composed the music of this movie. Songs like Aadabarse, Hindilona Chumma and Siri Siri Muvvalu became chartbusters at that time. Ganesh got produced by Rama Naidu under the Suresh Productions banner. It won five Nandi Awards in total, including Best Actor and Best Feature Film (Bronze). Venkatesh also won Filmfare Award for Best Actor, for his performance in the movie.
