Veteran cinematographer PV Nivas dies at 75

Popular cinematographer PV Nivas passed away on February 1, 2021, due to ill-health. He was 75 years old and breathed his last in Kozhikode Kerala. The nnews of his untimely demise has come as a huge shock to the entire film industry. PV ivas entered the Tamil film industry at the age of 16. He worked as a cinematographer in Kamal Haasan and Sridevi's Sigappu Rojakkal which was directed by Bharathraja. He He had also worked as a cinematographer with many popular directors such as Bhagyaraj, CV Sridhar and Gangai Amaren. Apart from working as a cinematographer, he had also directed films like Kallukul Eeram and Enakaga Kathiri.

Director Bharathiraja took to Twitter to share a black and white photo of PV Nivas and expressed his condolences to his family. In his tweet, BHarathiraja said that he worked with him in 16 Vayathinile and stood by him in five hit films. He paid his last respects to Nivas. PC Sreeram took to Twitter to pay his last respects to Nivas and wrote, "#RIP Cinematographer PS Nivas. The man who shot 16 Vayathinile for Bharathiraja & opened up a whole new avenue of visual narration for Indian Cinema, particularly the Tamil film industry - Nivas has left us with a lot to cherish. May his soul rest in peace."
