Earlier this year, director Vetri Maaran and Suriya announced their first collaboration. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner V Creations. The film was supposed to go on floors in September, but it kept getting delayed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. However, there has been no update regarding the film's shooting. Meanwhile, Vetri Maaran is in talks with Thalapathy Vijay and Kamal Haasan. So, it is unclear as to why the film is getting delayed. IN a recent interview with Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, director Vetri Maaran said that he is afraid about the expectations.
In the interview, Vetri Maaran said, "I'm afraid about the expectations that fans have on the film. Vaadi Vasal is a simple story. The film will also have a few elements from the novel but we have also added a few things that happened in that era. The story happens in a period where Tamil Nadu's youngsters were looking for a change. Since bulls don't get attached to a stranger so we have asked Suriya sir to train with a bull. To make the bull act according to our imagination, we have sought the help of animation and animatronics." As of now, Suriya and Ameer have been roped in to play lead roles in the film.
