Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, which has been in pre-production for over a year now, finally went on floors today. The team including Jayam Ravi and Karthi are on Thailand for the film’s first schedule which will go on for about 40 days. The makers have taken steps to avoid the leakage of pictures and videos from the shooting spot.
The latest reports suggest that Vikram Prabhu, grandson of Sivaji Ganesan and son of actor Prabhu is the latest actor to join the cast of Ponniyin Selvan. However, the makers are yet to make a formal announcement on Vikram Prabhu’s inclusion in the film. He might have joined the team in Thailand, according to sources.
Before the film went on floors, there were many changes with respect to the film’s cast. Anushka Shetty, Keerthy Suresh, Amala Paul, and several other actors were roped in earlier, but they eventually opted out of the project due to delay in the shooting for a few months.
Mani Ratnam was trying to bring Ponniyin Selvan to life for several years. However, due to financial issues, it didn’t materialize. Now, Mani Ratnam has struck a deal with Kyca Productions to bankroll this project with Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing the lead roles.
