Virat and Anushka raise Rs 3.6 crore in a day

Celebrity couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli on May 7 announced a Covid-19 fundraiser to raise Rs 7 crore for relief efforts. After launching the campaign, Virat and Anushka donated Rs 2 crore on their part and requested people to donate money to help fello people. Today, Anushka and Virat's funraiser managed to rcollect Rs 3.6 crore, half of what they had intended to achieve. They have now crossed the 50 per cent of their goal and conveyed the same on social media. Anushka Sharma wrote on Instagram, “Grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Thank you for your contribution. We have crossed the half way mark, let’s keep going. #InThisTogether #ActNow #OxygenForEveryone #TogetherWeCan #SocialForGood (sic).”

Announcing the campaign, Anushka wrote, "Anushka wrote, "As our country battles the second wave of Covid-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering. So, Virat and I have initiated a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief. We shall all overcome this crisis together. Please step forward to support India and Indians. Your contribution will help in saving lives during this critical time (sic)."
