"Why would I watch the film again": Devarakonda on Kabir Singh
Star of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, Vijay Deverakonda, has said that he has no interest in watching Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh. The central role of an alcoholic, abusive medical student has been played by actor Shahid Kapoor in the Hindi film, also directed by the original’s Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Vijay Deverakonda, when asked if he has seen the film's remake 'Kabir Singh' starring Shahid Kapoor, said, "I know the story, I have done that film, why will I watch again?" "Shahid has done that film, and he has gone through the character, and there is nothing for me to watch again," he added.
Kabir Singh has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year, making over Rs 250 crore at the domestic box office, exceeding the industry’s expectations. Arjun Reddy was also a box office hit.
This movie raised many controversies in Bollywood and the fire spread to T-town as well through a recent interview with Anupama Chopra in which Vanga seemed to condone violence in the name of love was harshly criticised on the internet.
Samantha, Chinmayi Sripada and anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj, through twitter, said that they were deeply disturbed and depressed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s words about masculinity. But most of the netizens backed up Sandeep Vanga and a trend with a hashtag- #WeSupportSandeepReddyVanga went viral.
