Storytellers School of Dance (SSD), lead by Ekta Popat, will be offering Kathak classes in Sugar Land (for adults and children ages 5 & up) starting August 2017. Ekta Popat is a disciple of Guru Smt. Shambhavi Dandekar and is training in the Benaras Gharana of Kathak. She hopes to give her students the same authentic training that she is fortunate to receive from her guru. Through discipline, focus, and fun Ekta hopes to share her passion and love for Kathak with all of her students. SSD is certified to conduct diploma examinations in Kathak. Students of SSD will be trained according to the syllabus determined by Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in Pune, India. Students will be evaluated periodically and encouraged to take examinations annually.
