Hero Tamil Movie Review
Hero Tamil Movie Review: Sivakarthikeyan and PS Mithran's film speaks about an important message.
Hero Movie Story:
Shakthi (Sivakarthikeyan) and Ink (Robo Shankar) head a printing press in Chennai where they print fake degree certificates in exchange for money. They also have great connections in colleges and use it to get management seats to students. When he tries his luck to get a seat for free for Madhi (Ivana), it changes his life.
Madhi and several other students who don't score well in exams but talented study under Sathyamoorthy (Arjun) as he helps them get innovative. But, villain Mahadev (Abhay Deol) doesn't see education as a noble profession but as a business and curbs the innovative minds with his menacing methods. When these three people collide, all hell breaks loose.
Hero Movie Performance:
Sivakarthikeyan is perfect as the angry young man who got let down by the society that sees education as a business. His expressions are so perfect that you see him as a guy next door and connect with him.
Arjun appears in a role that is an extended version of his character from Shankar's Gentleman. In this film, he looks at his part and also conveys his urge to help people, especially young kids, through his expression.
Abhay Deol looks menacing as the antagonist Mahadev. His lip-sync in Tamil perfect and so are his expressions. However, I wish that his character had some more backstory to give it the depth.
looks angelic in her role but unfortunately, she doesn't have much to do in the film. Ivana, who acted in Bala's Nachiyaar appears in an impactful role in Hero.
Hero Movie Positives:
Director PS Mithran should get applause for taking up a topical message that rings a bell in everyone's ears. His strength lies in the development of his characters. Thus, the characters of Arjun and Sivakarthikeyan are well rounded.
The filmmaker has concentrated well on the research of the education system and has presented all the hard-hitting facts with his dialogues.
Cinematographer George Williams deserves all the applause for capturing the film so beautifully. There is a dark tone in all the frames that tells us the seriousness of the story.
The performances of Arjun and Sivakarthikeyan help the audience in taking the film so seriously. Their characters and their performances are enough to keep the audience engaged in the film.
Hero Movie Negatives:
Despite weaving an interesting premise, director PS Mithran got stuck with cliches and came up with some exaggerated sequences that ruin the experience. He could have avoided them which would have made Hero a great film.
The film had promoted as a superhero venture, but the makers failed to showcase the superhero elements throughout the film. Siva appears in a mask and underwhelming bodysuit for hardly half an hour in the film.
Hero Movie Verdict:
Hero movie has an interesting concept at its core, but the script to screen translation was not up to the mark. Despite a handful of underwhelming moments, the film has enough substance to keep you hooked.
