Movie starts off in Indian space centre with the introduction of Rahman,Aditi rao Hydari,satyadev,srinivas avasarala and others. A major issue happens in the space centre and it could lead to total global communication blank out in the world.ISC assigns one of its former employee Dev(Varun Tej)to carry the mission. But Dev himself has a past with Paaru(Lavanya Tripathi) and an issue with a failed satellite Vipriyan. Whats the issue and how does he accomplish the mission forms the rest of the story.
Varun Tej who has been on a roll off-late with his choice of scripts is back at it once again with a character driven role.He is at his effortless best as Dev,the scientist and astronaut. Aditi Rao Hydari as one of the astronaut is good in her role while Lavanya Tripathi had a limited role to play and she did her part well. Srinivas Avasarala, Rahman, SatyaDev and others have done their part accordingly.
Movies like these need to be technically strong to make the whole setup look convincing. Anthariksham is no different and it has great technical standards. Music and BGM are adequate. Cinematography by Gnanasekhar VS is first rate and has showcased the whole setup in the right mood. Art department have done a splendid job and they need a special mention.The space centre and outer space portions have been showed convincingly. Production values are decent.
Director Sankalp Reddy who received accolades for his debut directional Ghazi has chosen a space concept this time to entertain us. A lot of handwork and planning has gone into this and its clearly visible on screen. The space centre and the outer space portions look so convincing and have been shot superbly. His narration is straight to the point and doesn’t deviate one bit. His direction is on point but his writing lacks depth on the whole. There are couple of scenes in the second half where he leaves his mark. The goosebumps moments and patriotic feel he has generated in Ghazi are clearly missing in Anthariksham.Overall a very commendable effort from the young man.

Telugu Cinema reaches Space. Director Sankalp Reddy takes us all on an ambitious ride and pulls it off for most part. A better narrative and depth in the proceedings would have made this take-off even more memorable. A daring and honest attempt from Sankalp Reddy, Varun Tej and team.Go watch this decent space thriller this weekend.
