Evaru Review: Adivi Sesh and Regina keep us hooked in this thriller
Vikram Vasudev (Adivi Sesh) is a corrupt officer and he is handed over a high-profile murder case to investigate. The murder case involves Sameera (Regina Cassandra) who is accused of killing a person (Naveen Chandra).
When confronted Sameera has a different version to tell to Vasudev. The rest of the story follows Vasudev who tries to find out the truth behind the murder.
Adivi Sesh has once again proved that he is one of the talented lads to watch out for. His screen presence is too good for this film and his screenplay needs a special mention as well.
Even though Sesh is the hero of the movie, it is Regina Cassandra's performance that makes the film an interesting watch. Her expressions are on point and have managed to make people feel empathetic towards her.
Naveen Chandra has a meaty role in the film and he has given his earnest performance in Evaru. He has gotten a different role than his usual endeavors.
Murli Sharma, Raja Ravindra and the rest of the actors have given their best even though they do not have much scope in the story.
Adivi Sesh has relied on original thrillers with a taut screenplay. Evaru is a remake of a Spanish film. Yet again, he has done a splendid job with the screenplay to make it interesting for Telugu audiences.
Director Venkat Ramji too has understood the crux of Evaru and has incorporated small changes in the script keeping in the sensibilities of the film. A special mention to Abburi Ravi for the dialogues.
Music is one of the important aspects of a thriller film and Sricharann Pakala is one of the talents to watch out for. His background score gelled well with the mood of the film.
Evaru has a lot happening in it in the first half, and when it all comes together in the second half, it becomes a kickass thriller.
Evaru is a flawed film, let's get that straight. There are a few moments that turned out to be quite predictable and spoils the buildup they had going in the screenplay.
The original Spanish film had a lot of twists and turns. Sometimes, these twists and turns turned out to be superficial and make us think that the makers are going over the top.
Nonetheless, Evaru is a film that relies heavily on the screenplay and the makers have done a great job in bringing it to the Telugu audience. Barring a few flaws, the film is a faithful remake and has enough substance to keep us hooked to it.
