Manchi Rojulochaie is the latest Telugu film to hit the marquee. The film has Santosh Shobhan and Mehreen in the lead roles. Here is our review of the supposed comedy caper.

Manchi Rojulochaie Review - Story

Santu (Santosh) and Padma (Mehreen) are deep in love. But they face a big hurdle in the form of Gopal (Ajay Ghosh), who is Padma’s father. Gopal is of the impression that his daughter’s love life will tarnish his peaceful and harmonious life. He tries his best to end the relationship between the young couple. What follows later forms the rest of the story.

Manchi Rojulochaie Review - Analysis

The lead pair Santosh Shobhan and Mehreen play the lead pair and they share good chemistry. But their characters aren’t the central ones. Ajay Ghosh is the one who plays the propeller role. The narrative revolves around Ajay’s character and he delivers a very good performance in the same. He outperforms the lead pair and that is what one would expect from a seasoned actor like him. Vennela Kishore, Praveen, and other supporting actors come up with good performances as well.

Maruthi has the knack of picking up simple subjects and narrating them with a comical touch. He does the same with Manchi Rojulochaie. But this time around, his narrative is not as compelling when compared to his previous films like Bhale Bhale Magadivoi, and Mahanubhavudu. The film is set in the Covid first wave backdrop and it banks mostly on situational comedy.

The introductory sequences pertaining to the lead pair’s love track establishment are relatively engaging. But the film loses steam quickly and progresses along on a predictable note. A couple of hilarious sequences come to the rescue in the opening half. But in the latter half, the same set or repetitive sequences are narrated with more of a serious approach. The female lead’s father realizing the importance of enjoying life and not picking on others' lives turns out to be a slugfest. The narrative is a bit too single-layered in the latter half.

The climax is way too convenient. A concerned father realizing his mistakes and apologizing - this is a beaten to death plot. The same happens with Manchi Rojulochaie.

Anup Rubens’s background score is okayish and his songs are of decent quality. The cinematography is visually appealing. The production designing and production values are top class.

Manchi Rojulochaie Review - Verdict

Manchi Rojulochaie is an underwhelming comedy-drama that has a routine narrative that offers very little freshness. Barring a few comedy sequences in the opening half, the film mostly progresses along on a predictable note. With a better latter half, it might have made for a far better watch.
