Nootokka Jillala Andagadu Review - Story

GSN (Srinivas) is a bald man. He does everything he can to cover up his baldness. But all hell breaks loose after he falls for Anjali (Ruhani), his workplace colleague, and tries to woo her while he also has to cover up his ‘bald’ tale. What follows later forms the core plot of the film.

Nootokka Jillala Andagadu Review - Analysis

101 Jillalda Andagadu is all about the journey of a bald man who tries his best to cover up his baldness. But the real struggle starts only after he falls for his workplace colleague and falls head over heels to impress her. Srinivas is apt for this role. He excels as a typical bald man who tries to look ‘glamorous’ while out in public. His funny antics and mannerisms are organic and gel with the specifications of the role he plays. Ruhani is good as a soft-natured girl.

The film has a great premise to make for a hilarious entertainer, thanks to its relatable and potent plot. But the writing is way too subdued for a film with a theme like this one. The protagonist’s baldness establishment scenes in the opening half are bland. The proactive screenplay could have done the trick here but that wasn’t to be.

The opening exchanges are not all that engaging but the proceedings gradually pick up the pace towards the interval block. The scenes preceding the interval block pack healthy humor. The big reveal from the protagonist is dealt with in a mature manner in regard to the screenplay.

The second half takes more of a serious approach and it banks mostly on organic emotions. The relatable problem of baldness is in the foreground and the narrative is built around it. However, these scenes don’t pack the desired amount of impact, thus they end up being subdued. The climax portion is possibly the best passage in the film. The story is rounded off well.

Rachakonda Vidyasagar makes his debut with the film and he does an okayish job. The screenplay needed more zest. The background score is good but there isn’t much to speak about the audio album. Production designing is pretty impressive.

Nootokka Jillala Andagadu Review - Verdict

101 Jillala Andagadu is a below-par comedy that has a few bright comical moments in the first half. But the screenplay is a tad too dull for a film with such a theme. The baldness angle should have been used in a more engaging manner. The film ends up as an underwhelming watch.
