Ensemble star cast doesn’t save this sloppy comedy
Total Dhamaal is the third installment in the Dhamaal franchise. Like the first part, a huge booth of Rs 50 crore in hidden inside a Janakpur zoo and a bunch of funny and eccentric characters rush to lay their hands on it.
Meanwhile, the director deals with several topics - a couple on the verge of divorce, greedy brothers and several other problems. They come in their way and whether the team discover the treasure or not forms the rest of the story.
Considering the entire star cast, it is only the outing of Amol Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit that work. They prove that still have the magic that they had two decades ago.
Though Ajay Devgan gives a decent performance, the poorly written dialogues and punches ruin the experience for the audience.
Sanjay Mishra so far has surprised with his brilliant performances but he is a total disappointment in Total Dhamaal. Ritesh Deshmukh manages to make the audience laugh in a few places.
However, Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffrey are terrible in the film and their comedy fails to entertain the audience.
Total Dhamaal is enjoyable only in a few instances, thanks to the comedy that works on and off. If only the director had paid attention to the dialogues, the film would have been better.
Watch out the portions when Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit appears on-screen. They are a delight to watch out for and reminds us of the 90s where they rocked and ruled the roost.
The director has churned out a weak story which literally has no substance for even two characters to perform, let alone the horde of characters the film has.
The computer graphics in the film is tacky and the makers could have spent at least 5% of the total budget of the film.
Director Indra Kumar had assembled a star cast to impress the audience. Sadly, he missed out on the opportunity to churn out a comedy film that actually makes the audience laugh.
Total Dhamaal is a lost opportunity with a huge star cast. What could have been a good comedy entertainer ended up as poor execution of a lackluster script... says our review.
