3 held as Chennai woman alerts police of sexual harassment using Kalavan app

After the horrific Disha incident in Hyderabad, every state in the country took proper measures to ensure the safety of the women likes never before. One of a lot of commendable efforts came into light as a Chennai woman protected herself using a mobile app by reporting ongoing sexual harassment by a group.

 
Chennai Police on Saturday arrested three men on a bus for allegedly sexually harassing a woman and causing a public nuisance after the woman alerted police through 'Kavalan SOS' app. The incident took place on the 15 G route bus on Saturday evening around 8.00 pm.
 
She was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment and taunts by two inebriated law graduates and their friend. The app is part of the Tamil Nadu State Police Master Control Room initiative.
 
All three apprehended by Flower Bazaar police and booked under section 354 of the IPC (sexual harassment). The men have identified as M Anandaraj (22) of Virudhunagar, S Arul Kumar (23) of Anthiyoor, Erode and N Ponmani Maran of Salem.
