8 men including AMMK workers arrested for kidnapping a trader

Eight men including AMMK workers have been taken into custody for kidnapping a trader from Mannadi for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. The victim family members have arranged 2 lakhs to hand the kidnapper, they have reported to police on ransom call from the kidnappers.
 
A team headed by the assistant commissioner of police Subbarayan and Velachery police inspector Pravin Rajesh arrested the culprits by closely monitoring their movements.
 
Police stated that the clue accused L Elumalai, 49, and M Baskar, 43, a resident of Velachery, hold key position with the AMMK, as other accused were D Karthik, 29, D Sridhar, 28, K Patchirajan, 24, K Velur, 45, M Prabakaran, 40, and S Prakash, 45.
 
Police also said that the victim, Sheik John of Mannadi, who maintained a textile business, is known to the main accused and had borrowed Rs 1.2 lakh from them. Though he had returned the money they had demanded him for a share in the profit of the business. Sheik has given them 2 lakhs and two men have demanded him more money and held him as a hostage.
 
As the victims' mother has reported to the police, the police have nabbed the two culprits along with the other six members.
