95% of YSRCP candidates have a criminal history: Recent reports
Criminal cases against YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy has turned into the main weapon for the other parties to campaign against them. Adding to this, the recent death of his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy has also cornered Jagan. On this note, one of the recent independent surveys has revealed that YSR Congress Party has the highest number of leaders with a criminal history.
A report released on YSRCP candidates' criminal cases has revealed that 95 candidates contesting for Assembly from the party have criminal cases against them. To everyone’s surprise, the list also includes the women legislators in the party. The criminal cases include robbery and land grabbing also.
Into details, the report revealed that party chief Jagan has the highest number of the cases i.e, 31 against him. 6 candidates from Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Kurnool respectively have cases on them. 1 candidate from Vizianagaram, 9 candidates in East Godavari, 1 in West Godavari, 15 candidates in Krishna District, 12 from Guntur, 5 from Prakasam district, 7 from Nellore, 8 candidates from Kadapa district, 10 candidates from Ananthapur and 7 candidates from Chittoor district have criminal and other cases registered against them.
This is not it, the report also revealed that 12 YSR Congress MP candidates also have cases against them. The list also has the name of industrialist Potluri Vara Prasad, who is contesting from Vijayawada. Congress party took the second place followed by BJP, TRS, and BSP at the fifth place. An interesting fact is that ruling party TDP stood in the last position with just 16% of them with criminal cases against them.
