A booth in Kolkata to go for re-polling on May 22!
The Election Commission on Tuesday ordered re-polling at a booth in the Kolkata Uttar parliamentary constituency on May 22. BJP's Rahul Sinha, TMC's Sudip Bandyopadhyay, and CPI(M)'s Kaninika Bose Ghosh are among the candidates in the fray from the constituency.
Owing to violence and alleged rigging by the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal polls, the Election Commission took this decision. The stations were also marred with violence during the final two phases of elections where the BJP and TMC blamed each other for the chaos.
Large-scale violence was reported from different constituencies across West Bengal during the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The CPM has also accused the TMC of rigging at several booths, including Dum Dum, Diamond Harbour, Kolkata Uttar, and Jadavpur. Re-polling will be held on May 22 from 7 am to 6 pm.
