AP new CS halts CM Relief Funds
It seems like the bitter tug of war between the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the new chief secretary has left the poor and beneficiaries in helpless situations. Showing the Model Code of Conduct as an excuse, the senior IAS officer L V Subrahmanyam has stopped the release of CM Relief fund amounts to patients and beneficiaries.
If the inside information from the State Secretariat is to be believed the CS had issued orders to the CMRF officials that the funds would only be released after the results of the elections i.e, May 23rd. With this, issue of about Rs. 130 crore worth funds from the CMRF assisting the people with health issues or other personal emergencies will be on halt.
Over the last four years, CMRF in Andhra Pradesh has been lauded for its prompt financial assistance offered to the distressed people affected by major natural calamities etc. It also provided relief to the needy individuals for their treatment of major diseases to the needy people who are under Below Poverty Line families.
Amidst this, the people who reached to the CMRF officials are heading back disappointed deprived of financial assistance. On the other hand, they are lashing out that the new Chief Secretary should work in reference to humanitarian and compassionate grounds.
