The Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition had its core committee meeting, here on Monday, March 4, under the leadership of the coalition leaders and AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal. The coalition partners have come to the conclusion of contesting the Lok Sabha elections together. After the meeting, which was held in the Kumara Krupa Guest House, Chairman of Government-alliance Coordination Committee, Siddaramaiah said that if Congress-JDS would fight together, then there were high chances of winning more than 20 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats. He opined that today’s meet was fruitful and that the best of the strategies have been planned to restrain the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from coming into power.
Siddaramaiah said, “In a few days from now AICC President Rahul Gandhi and JDS Supremo H D Deve Gowda will be organizing a meet in which the final list of candidates will be confirmed”. “The seat share is still not sorted out, but will be decided soon”, he added. General Secretary of JDS Danish Ali said that a round of meeting was held earlier between the Congress leaders, JDS State President H D Deve Gowda and Public Works Department Minister, H D Revanna. “Compared to the previous meetings between the Congress-JDS leaders, today’s meeting was taken to an advanced level. There are some more points to be still discussed”, he added. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah said that a petition has already been submitted to Speaker Ramesh Kumar against rebel Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav, who resigned from the Congress party and had decided to join the BJP.
