The BJP to win the seventh consecutive term in Gujarat with the best performance in history. With 53 percent of the votes polled, the BJP is advancing in 152 out of 182 seats. In Gujarat, where the Aam Aadmi Party was present with 13 percent of the votes and seven seats, the Congress was crushed. The Congress, which was crushed in terms of vote percentage and number of seats, was limited to 17 seats.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the BJP led in three elections. In the first election led by Modi in 2002, he won 115 seats. By 2007, this had increased to 127. However, it fell to 117 in 2012. After the 2018 elections, the BJP had 115 seats in Gujarat. Although not the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi was the poster boy for the BJP in the election campaign in Gujarat. Therefore, it has to be observed that even in this historic victory, Modi's seal of victory is clear.
As predicted by the exit poll results, the BJP is headed for a landslide victory, while the Congress is trailing far behind. Congress has suffered such a fall from where it won 77 seats in 2017. The Aam Aadmi Party's election campaign has largely affected the Congress. Neither the Congress nor the Aam Aadmi Party have even been able to challenge the BJP in Gujarat. Even though Rahul Gandhi came out with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress was not able to campaign properly in Gujarat. The Shia leaders did not actively campaign for Congress.
However, Congress leader Mukul Wasnik said that it cannot be said that the Congress has collapsed in Gujarat. Mukul Wasnik said that there was a setback in some areas, but it cannot be said that the Congress has collapsed because of this.
