BJP rejects KG Bopaiah as the Speaker of Karnataka
It is shocking news to the former Speaker of the KG Bopaiah, the BJP had rejected speaker post to Bopaiah, due to the 'negative' light he cast the party during his first term in the year of 2009-2012. However, the BJP has nominated the Sirsi MLA Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri as the Speaker of Karnataka Assembly.
By the represent of CM BSY the former CM Jagadish Shettar, and senior leaders R Ashoka, KS Eshwarappa, JC Madhuswamy, and others, Kageri, a six-time MLA, submitted his nomination. Kageri will officially start the role of the speaker, instead of Ramesh Kumar.
The senior leader said, “There was no say in this decision (nominating Kageri), as his name was proposed and directed by central leaders. While Yediyurappa had finalized the name of Bopaiah, Central leaders took exception to the former speaker since he had acquired a negative image during his previous tenure. His candidature was thus canceled.”
The legislator said, “But by 9 am Kageri called us and said his name was being finalized and sought our support.” Bopaiah has proved unpopular with the opposition. He was repeatedly singled out during Ex-CM’s motion confidence last week for having expelled MLAs in 2010.
