At least 16 people are thought to be killed in a ghostly highway mishap when a private Volvo Bus and a van collided head-on near Veldurthi intersection in Kurnool district while trying to avoid a motorcycle rider.
Shocked to know the fact of the death toll at Kurnool district in an accident, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief on Saturday in a press release.
Naidu directed the government authorities to extend necessary medical support to the victims swiftly. He expressed condolences to the deceased family members.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao voiced profound sorrow at the loss of passengers from the district of Jogulamba Gadwal in the tragic highway accident and conveyed his condolences to the representatives of bereaved households.
He advised Jogulamba Gadwal’s district collector to provide better care for the wounded admitted to Kurnool Hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office's tweeted on his behalf, "The road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool is deeply unfortunate. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover quickly."
