After the state, now Centre copies Telangana's Rythu Bandhu Scheme proposed and implemented by Telangana Chief Minister KCR. We all know that this scheme from KCR has won appreciation from several states and from the Prime Minister's Office too. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu took a cue from Telangana government's reconcilement and recreated Rythu Bandhu scheme as Rythu Raksha Scheme as the tactic to retain power in Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming assembly elections.
The NDA government announced an annual direct income payment of Rs6000 for farmers in the country. This announcement was made by Union Minister Piyush Goyal today while presenting the interim budget 2019-2020. And named it as "Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi". Piyush Goyal stated that the government will pay Rs 6000 in three installments of Rs 2000 under this scheme. Although this Kisan Samman Nidhi is restricted to small and marginal farmers with landholdings not exceeding 5acres, on the other hand, Rythu Bandhu Scheme is applied for all farmers in the state.
It is expected that the centre's farm assistance would cover about 12crore farmers across the country, while Rythu Bandhu Scheme of KCR's already benefited about 58 Lakhs farmers in Kharif alone. Other political parties spreading that it is also a tactic playing by the central government to provide cash handouts to farmers ahead of Lok Sabha Elections. Whatever it may be, it will be a good move by the central government as it would bring down Farm Distress across the country.
