As the Andhra Pradesh elections are coming nearer, Telugu Desam Party is cleverly taking decisions. TSP government has decided to implement Rythu Raksha scheme to please farmers votes. It is a very good strategy from N Chandrababu Naidu for the forthcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. This is the second welfare scheme by the TDP government after announcing a hike in pension ahead of the polls.
Before knowing about the Rythu Raksha scheme, we have to know about the Rythu Bandhu Scheme designed by the TRS government in Telangana. Rythu Bandhu scheme provides financial help of Rs4000 per acre per annum, to farmers for purchasing the seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other investments. This scheme from KCR has won appreciation from several states and the Prime Minister’s Office too.
But here in Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu took a cue from Telangana government’s reconcilement and recreated Rythu Bandhu scheme as Rythu Raksha Scheme as a tactic to retain power in the state in the assembly elections. Here in the Rythu Raksha scheme, the government offered to credit about Rs10,000 per acre per annum into farmers accounts directly. TDP government has also added the tenant farmers in this scheme.
While the elections are coming nearer and Chandrababu Naidu is dealing tactfully to retain his power in Andhra Pradesh. But the welfare programmes he is announcing in Andhra Pradesh will be a huge burden to Government as Andhra Pradesh is already a revenue deficit state. Will all these strategies make Chandrababu Naidu CM again? Well we have to wait and see
