CM Edappadi K Palaniswami says new cooperative milk producers’ union in five districts
CM Palaniswami announced the establishment of new cooperative milk producers’ unions with headquarters at Karur, Dharmapuri, Theni, Tuticorin and Cuddalore. It helps the increase of the procurement to 35 lakh litres a day from 33 lakh litres now. He advised in assembly, CM Palaniswami said Trichy district cooperative milk producer’s union will be divided into two branches to make new union at Karur, likewise, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri will be split. Theni union will be carved out of Madurai, Tuticorin union from Tirunelveli, and Cuddalore from Villupuram. “With an increase in procurement, the sales will be increased to 25 lakh litres a day from 22.5 lakh litres,” the CM said.
Palaniswami said there are 19 cooperative milk producers’ union in the districts and caters two and four districts, he said. Setting up a new union would facilitate the unions to provide services at an appropriate time and consumers getting milk in close proximity.
