CM Edappadi Palaniswami says Vellore district to be trifurcated
Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami announced the Vellore district is splits into three new districts of Tirupattur and Ranipet. The Vellore district is very largest district in Tamil Nadu state. CM said but look at the reduction in the geographical area. K.V. Kuppam in Vellore district is made up of Taluk.
CM said this decision by the Vellore district representations from Ministers, MLAs and the general public and was done for administrative reasons. Previously Palaniswami said, to create Chengalpattu district, carved out of Kancheepuram and Tenkasi district by bifurcating Tirunelveli.
CM announced in January Villupuram district would be bifurcated and a new district with Kallakurichi as its headquarters would be created. Revenue Minister R.B. Udhayakumar had urged that “It is the first step towards development. A new district will have a new collectorate and encourage and industries. We have created 85 new taluks and 11 revenue divisions since 2015,” he said.
PMK founder S. Ramadoss said the population of Vellore, which stood at 38.37 lakh, was greater than that of 101 countries of 13 Assembly constituencies and was spread across 220 km in distance.
