Shivakumara Swamiji held on Thursday, January 31, became a platform for political talks encompassing ‘Bharat Ratna’ for the seer.
 
Addressing a gathering, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that if a coalition of the regional front would come back to power within the Centre, they might undoubtedly confer the Bharat Ratna on Shivakumara Swamiji. He additionally said that he and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G Parameshwar had mentioned on this and in concerning seven months they would jointly take a choice, once the ‘mahagathbandhan’ government involves power in Centre.
 
CM HDK said he believed that because the NDA-led Bharatiya Janata Party was in power, the seer would be presented with the award. He opined that if the award has been presented on the seer, the respect and honor of the award would rise. He remembered the instant of conferring the 'Karnataka Ratna' award on the seer along with his own hands back within the year 2007, once he was the CM. He cherished it by saying, "It was my privilege and honour."
 
CM HDK said that one should forget all political fights and come along to honour the nice soul. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of Government-Alliance Coordination Committee Siddaramaiah said that although most of them had not seen Basavanna and Buddha, all their qualities are in Shivakumara Swamiji.
