CM Palaniswami says, ‘ToR refusal for a dam is in line with SC judgement'
CM accepted the Expert Appraisal Committee decision of Ministry of Environment and Forests not to grant Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Mekedatu dam project. The EAC rejects Karnataka proposal for ToR seeking project for Tamil Nadu.
The sharing of Cauvery water, the decision was in following of Supreme Court judgement, while no one could go the against the Supreme Court decision, he said.
“The Supreme Court has given a very clear judgement. It has said for 15 years, no one can file any case, build any dam, divert Cauvery water or store it. Only the Cauvery Management Board can decide. No one needs to worry about the issue…nobody can overstep the SC judgement. Everyone has to abide by the judgement,” CM said.
Palaniswami said, “The water resources protection movement will be made into a people’s movement and an intensive campaign undertaken for a month,” he said. And also added “The Kudimaramathu scheme will help protect and recharge groundwater,” he said.
