In a huge relief to JDS supremo H D Devegowda, who is contesting from the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency, Congress rebel leader S P Muddahanumegowda has decided to withdraw his nomination papers.
Muddahanumegowda is that the incumbent MP of Tumakuru. He was elected as a Congress candidate within the year 2014. He was recently denied a ticket because the Congress had allotted the body to their alliance partner, the JDS, as a part of the seat-sharing agreement.
According to sources, Gowda agreed to withdraw his nomination papers when an assurance from the Congress leadership that he is going to be made an MLC. Gowda is expected to create a statement during this regard at noon today.
