The Congress Working Committee, the party’s highest decision-making team is likely to meet in Delhi on Saturday to discuss the party’s position in Lok Sabha elections for the second consecutive time.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi is likely to offer his resignation after he failed to lead his party to victory or substantially improve its performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He also the prestige battle in Amethi as BJP’s Smriti Irani wrested the seat that Mr. Gandhi has represented since 2004.
As many as 9 former Chief Ministers lost their seats and in as many as 12 States, the party failed to open its account.
Many of the State in-charges would not only explain their position but may offer their resignations on Saturday during the meeting of the CWC.
