With nearly 53k new cases on Sunday, the figure of confirmed coronavirus infections touched the 18-lakh mark in India. As the number of new infections is soaring at a constant rate in India, WHO released a statement mentioning that the pandemic is likely to be a lengthy one.
771 casualties were reported in the past 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 38,135. While 11, 86,203 of the 18, 03,696 cases were cured; 5, 79,357 are active. The recovery rate stands at 65.76 per cent.
Meanwhile, the movement of flights has increased the flow of people moving within the country. The influx of people in the airports is raising concerns among the authorities across the country, most importantly for Hyderabad airport authorities.
To tackle this, the Union health ministry with UNICEF’s funding, provided the Hyderabad international airport with a mass fever screening system. This new ceiling-mounted thermal scanner enhances the efficacy of the whole screening process amid the COVID pandemic.
As per the world meter, 217,901 new cases were registered worldwide in the past 24 hours. A total of 18,301,179 people have been diagnosed around the world with Covid-19, and nearly 694,008 have died so far.
