State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar said that 'The Mandya Lok Sabha independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh already knew that the state coalition would nominate a Janata Dal secular candidate here.
Kundagol Assembly by-election in charge D K Shivakumar said that 'Our sister Sumalatha was already informed by us that the Congress-JDS state coalition was going to field a JDS candidate in Mandya. She was promised of an alternative constituency.'
He said, 'Even after assuring of placing her in an alternative Lok Sabha constituency, she left the coalition support and contested an independent candidate and also gained support from other political parties.'
At the same time, he also stated that doors will be open for any who leaves BJP and join the Congress- JDS coalition. He also said that, after the results of 2019 general elections on May 23, the state coalition will become stronger.
