Delhi held their nerves as Shaw Shines against KKR!
The 10th match of the Vivo IPL 2019 was a tie between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders which lead to the 1st super over of this 12th season. This match was a roller coaster throughout the passage as Delhi had to chase 186 runs where Dhawan fell early scoring odd 16 runs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer joined prithvi shaw and these two young lads played brilliantly to match the required Run-rate.
Iyer departed after scoring a good 43 off 32 and then match was in hosts favour completely. Later KKR turned things around as Pant failed to shine and Prithvi Shaw got out at 99 after a spectacular knock. It was up to Kuldeep Yadav for the final over to defend 6 runs, who was expensive in the previous three overs. Ingram and Vihari failed to guide DC home as they scored just 5 runs.
KKR, who were first put to bat and lost 5 wickets for 50 runs. Then came muscular Andre Russell to join Skipper Dinesh Karthik and both counter attacked DC bowlers. Especially Russell dismantled them to all parts to score 62 of just 28 balls. DK scored 50 off 36 in KKR’s 185. Other batsman failed to make an impact as Harshal Patel took 2 wickets.
Coming to the super over Delhi Capitals scored just 10 runs losing Iyer who hit a boundary before getting out. Prasidh Krishna bowled superbly to restrict them to 10 runs. With Russel on strike, it seemed a cake walk for Kolkata as he scored boundary of the very first ball.
But, one of the world’s best bowlers, Kagiso Rabada has other thoughts to defend 7 runs off 5 deliveries who nailed a bullseye to York Russel’s middle stump out of the ground for the third delivery. Then he continued to dig the Yorkers where DK and Uthappa managed to score just singles. Prithvi Shaw was awarded the 'Man of the Match' for his 99 runs who played innings of his Life.
