Delhi took revenge against Punjab in Kotla in a nervy way!
Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field taking dew into consideration. After a couple of lusty blows, in-form KL Rahul was foxed by the smart work of Sandeep Lamichanne and Rishabh Pant. On the slow track, Universal boss Chris Gayle has other things on mind and went hitting everyone out of the park brutally.
A stunning relay catch by Colin Ingram and Axar Patel ended Gayle’s storm. Miller, Mandeep, and Curran failed collectively but R. Ashwin and debutant Harpreet Brar scored 36 odd runs together to hand Punjab a competitive total of 163 runs.
Chasing a not at all easy total, Capitals lost Prithwi Shaw early by the bullseye throw of Mandeep Singh. Delhi’s inform player Dhawan and Iyer took the responsibility up to their sleeves and scored their half-centuries comfortably.
No Punjab bowler looked threatening and these two kept the required run rate under the belt. After Dhawan’s departure, Kings XI bowlers bowled some tight overs and Pant has thrown his wicket away before Ingram’s quickfire comes to end.
But Shreyas Iyer dealt with singles patiently for a ball to ball score until he hit the winning boundary. Delhi’s skipper was awarded 'Man of the match' for his responsible 58 off 49.
