DMK leader Stalin and his party legislators to distribute Rs 10 crore for flood-hit Nilgiris
DMK chief M.K.Stalin and party legislators (MPs and MLAs) were contributing the 10 crores for the who were affected in heavy rains and flood-affected in the Nilgiris.
DMK Stalin said Nilgiris MP A. Raja will contribute Rs 3 crore, while Gudalur MLA M. Thiravidamani was Rs crore form their constituency development funds. While several DMK MPs M. Shanmugam, P. Wilson, R.S. Bharathi, T.K.S. Elangovan and Tiruchi Siva- will each contributed the Rs 1 crore for those affected people.
Stalin said he had seen first-hand the loss of life and damage to property and agriculture caused by the rains and flood. The government will implement development works on damages.
He said, “More than 350 Kim of roads have been affected or damaged due to the rains, with more than 100 places being blocked,” while Stalin said, Udhagamanadalam, Kundah, Gudalur, and Pandalur were the most affected areas.
Stalin stated the MP of Nilgiris Raja has visited the affected areas, and also he sought the Chief Minister to take action immediately on those people.
AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam said the allegation by the government by Mr Stalin were ‘routine’ and due to 'political reasons'. Mr Panneerselvam said after receiving an alert from the India Meteorological Department about floods in Nilgiris, the CM deputed the Revenue Minister and the Commissioner of Revenue Administration there to coordinate rescue operations.
