DMK opposes extension to special officers
The DMK opposed the implementation of two Bills in the Assembly try to extend the special officers for rural and urban local bodies of six months up to December 31 this year. Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani proposes the third Bill in Assembly, the extension for special officers in local bodies. DMK MLA B. Ranganathan (Villivakkam) recorded the party’s opposition to it.
Mr. Velumani introduced Tamil Nadu Panchayats Bill, of special officer’ in rural local bodies, but DMK leader S. Austin (Kanniyakumari) opposed it. The two Bills are pending regarding local body polls and stated the state government judgment to extend the special officers for another six months.
Mr. Velumani proposed Avadi City Municipal Corporation Bill fro 2019 announced as an Ordinance since the House was not in the meeting. The Bill has raised the end of the Assembly meeting.
